I’ve learned a word today: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

Here are some examples:

1. DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) is a beautiful ideology that ensures fair opportunities for everyone and fosters a work environment where all feel welcomed and respected. Nobody expects its practice in Boeing to cause quality degrade of airplanes, which exposes everyone to higher risk of accidents.

2. Gun-controlled policy will prevent kids from killing by guns in the school. It sounds like a perfect idea. However, because of this policy, the crime rate increases so significantly that no one feel safe in the city. The policy is able to control the guns of good people, but not the ones of bad guys.

3. Green energy policies are good countermeasures for global warming. The only side effect is that customers must pay crazy electricity bills, which makes such policies unsustainable.

What is your example?

    • If the good intentions are sincere, they would be open to criticism and make correction as soon as they notice something not as initially intended. +1
      • I agree. But the thing is, when things go wrong, most times people just blame on their approaches but not their intentions, especially if the intentions are plausible enough to beguile the public.
        • So the so-called good intentions are likely not good indeed.
