JOB DESCRIPTION:
 The intermediate Software Developer will be responsible for application development and for enhancement and maintenance of existing applications associated with the Aon Reed Stenhouse intranet. This person has worked in a web development environment, bringing a strong background in Graphical User Interface design, knowledge of the development life cycle and methodologies, and the ability to develop quality code. This person has analytical and problem solving skills as well as strong people skills.
Primary Duties:
 Create web or web-enabled applications that are aligned with the defined user experience and business requirements.
 Liaison with US development and Project Management Office to ensure online forms and applications are effectively displayed and functional within portlets in relation to the content management system.
 Responsible for enhancing Lotus Notes existing applications initiated by either new business requirements and/or need for application usability.
 Responsible for developing and maintaining various business applications, primarily using client/server and web technologies, that automate workflow, retire paper-based forms, generate reports, support corporate campaigns and promotions and introduce interactivity to the intranet.
 Work closely with the information architect and a varied customer base to ensure business requirements and application usability are met.
 Responsible for producing and maintaining required documentation of system components and participating in usability review sessions.
 Responsible for translating requirements from deliverables produced by information architect into quality code and for participating in unit testing, if necessary.
 Work closely with Corporate Systems to ensure maintenance of servers and applications and to ensure any development work is consistent with existing national standards and strategies.
Qualifications & Experience:
 Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related degree a plus.
 2-4 years of related software development experience, preferably associated with intranet projects.
 Must have experience working in Oracle, JSP, ASP (minimum 2 years).
 Proficient in XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Visual Basic, VBScript, (minimum 2 years)
 Must have experience working with a Lotus Notes environment and with conversion projects (minimum 2 years).
 Experience with developing applications or online forms designed to work in relation to a content management system.
 Experience working with content management systems.
 Appreciate the need for a positive end-user experience.
 Ability to effectively collaborate with web team.
 Ability to work with a large and varied customer base, when required.
 Superior written and verbal communications skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
 Able to present a portfolio for review.
 Excellent computer skills.
 Preferred experience in the insurance business.
 Proven ability to prioritize and manage deadlines and multiple tasks/projects.
