NETWORK ENGINEERING SPECIALIST
Client requires a network engineer to support a UNIX, NT or Netware network employing TCP/IP and IPX/SPX. You will have the opportunity to design, test, implement, maintain and troubleshoot effective local or wide area network components, associated servers, mini-computers, PC facilities and software to meet client needs. This position is responsible for providing network hardware, including servers/ communications equipment/cabling/ peripheral devices; providing network operating systems, systems software or related services; researching, testing, installing, troubleshooting and monitoring the services required for an effective security program.
Qualifications: Knowledge of the computer science field with particular emphasis on network technology normally attained through completion of a three-year community college program. UNIX Certified, qualified for Certified Network Engineer (CNE) certification issued by an authorized Novell testing centre, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE), or equivalent length of experience. Minimum five years’ experience providing evidence of strong skills in testing, implementation, administration and support of UNIX, NT and/or Novell servers; data communications facilities; TCP/IP and/or IPX protocols; desktop PCs; network and desktop operating systems; e-mail, back-up and virus protection services; and various other system software. Excellent familiarity with related methodologies. Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent oral and written communications skills.
