Application Development Specialist from Agent - DT Toronto - Full Time - 80-90K.

Role:
Working as an integral member of the Application Integration team where every member is expected to contribute to the overall success of the team and the IT Department, the Application Development Specialist position is responsible for planning, analyzing, developing and maintaining Firm-wide (Global) software systems across the Windows desktop, server, Citrix and other platforms. Client support and providing innovative business solutions which meet Firm business continuity and security standards are essential requirements. This position requires a broad understanding of security in general, and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of systems and information for which this position is accountable. Expert knowledge in root cause analysis and troubleshooting methodologies are a must. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and a minimum of five years of relevant, hands-on experience is required.

Responsibilities:
• Introducing and integrating new business systems
• Keeping abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends and advising management of their strategic value to the Firm.
• Ensuring that the application systems and related platforms are available and performing optimally.
• Responsibility for security, documentation and configuration of the Firm technology systems.
• Continually enhancing technical and interpersonal skills and building knowledge in all aspects of the Firm’s information systems.
• Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
• Performing routine audits of systems and software.
• Performing back-up audits and restores of Firm systems.
• Applying operating system and application systems updates, patches, and change/configuration changes.
• Investigating and implementation of latest versions of software unless exemption approval has been obtained from management.
• Installing and configuring new software systems?.
• Answering technical queries from peers as requested.
• Troubleshooting and resolving technology problems as per established SLAs.
• Escalating, in a timely manner, support issues requiring management’s attention.
• Proactively assisting users with various technical requests.
• Making recommendations on process improvement.
• Sharing knowledge and expertise by creating training materials and by providing hands-on training sessions.
• Project involvement and responsibilities.
• Abiding by change and configuration management processes and procedures.
• Collaborating with personnel having a variety of skill levels and expertise (from senior management to support staff) spanning practice groups and departments.
• Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
• Responsibility for Firm-wide (Global) application and infrastructure inter-dependencies.
• Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
• Maintaining mobile compatibility for all new technologies.

Position Requirements:
• Developing internal and external web services
• Leading new development initiatives and projects
• Web development
• Experience in developing Web applications using .Net, Framework, VS.NET 2003/2005, ASP.NET, ASP, JavaScript, XML, CSS, HTML, Ajax, Database development.
• General client-side web development is highly desirable such as skills with HTML, CSS, jQuery and the SharePoint Client Object Model.
• Excellent knowledge in Object Oriented Concepts.
• SharePoint Administration & Installation
• Mobile development experiences an advantage.
• Working as a team or individually as required.
• Prepares requirements, design, program specifications and time schedules for assigned projects based on IT department’s project management standards.
• Providing daily management, troubleshooting, and support of networking related issues.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with users and vendors.
• Assisting project managers in defining resource requirements for projects.
• Working under the direction of the Project Manager for projects of larger scope.
• Projecting leadership responsibility for projects of medium to large scope.
• Working with QA, production and application support personnel in the implementation of operational systems.
• Performing program maintenance and problem resolution on assigned systems/programs.
• Adhere to IT policies and procedures.
• Desktop and Citrix platform application integration and support.
• Development, deployment, integration, and third-level support of desktop, Citrix, user/group policies, profiles, etc.
• Maintenance of processes, documentation, communication and procedures.
• Proactively monitoring and capacity planning of the application systems to meet acceptable and agreed upon application response times.
• Documents applications based upon appropriate IT department standards.
• Performing duties outside of normal business hours as required.
