· design, develop, code, tests and debugs new software and enhancements to software, or fixes code defects in production
· work towards building their own as well as an in-house knowledge of the ePolicy application
· along with other team members play a role in evolving the ePolicy processes to fit the needs of the business and the new ePolicy application
Key Result Areas
Within the ePolicy team, considering the needs of other systems areas;
· Analyze new functionality, changes and fixes, that are of simple to medium complexity, to determine a technical solution that not only meets immediate needs but considers the Businesses future needs
· Develop program code that implements new functionality, changes or fixes and includes a balanced solution that anticipates future requirements and not just immediate needs.
· Working cooperatively with various Architects, produce documentation fully describing the technical solution including affected programs, files, screens, databases, tables, and interfaces.
· Debug and apply fixes to production code.
· Develop and execute appropriate unit, systems, and integration test plans
· Occasional evening and weekend work maybe required for support purposes.
· Carry out complex work requirements as generally directed by leader and within general needs of teams, projects and timelines. Expected to often work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· College diploma or university degree in a related discipline or equivalent training and experience
· 1 to 5 years related experience
· Strong analytical experience
· Database concepts
· .net / extJS / SQL-HTML / Duck Creek Author / XML / Visual Studio & Microsoft IIS-Informatica an asset
· Understanding of latest concepts, practices and procedures related to area of development:
· Web-based applications: Java, Javascript, J2EE, XML
· Business Intelligence applications: MicroFocus COBOL
· Ability and willingness to maintain knowledge and skills through efforts during and outside of work hours
· Strong communication skills, oral and written
· Knowledge of property casualty insurance an asset
· Ability to appreciate the direct and indirect impact on business operations of decisions, actions and recommendations made in this role
Ability and willingness to work under pressure for sustained periods of time on potentially multiple projects
