This role is to technically lead the design and implementation of highly scalable J2EE systems. This individual is expected to be hands on when required and have the aptitude to pick up any technical issues quickly and have the leadership to analyze and provide recommendations on solutions.
A strong background on how the overall systems work end to end from Infrastructure (H/W & OS) to Database (Oracle), to Java (JVM) and web servers, to ensure high throughput is maintained is essential.
The ideal candidate will want to be on the cutting edge of technology, exploring exciting areas of our clients and CGI’s future business while keeping up the standard of being technology leaders in the industry. Some of the high level responsibilities the candidate will be responsible for:
• Lead and oversee the work of distributed development team located in Toronto and India
• Design, develop, test and implement mission critical applications
• Create the High-level Design documents and lead the team in producing Detailed Design documents
• Lead the development of code and Unit testing as per the documented design & coding guidelines
• Perform Code Review from all developers on the team
• Triage defects identified during the testing phase
• Work independently and promote team productivity ensuring team delivers high quality components
Qualifications
• IT experience developing large scale, high transaction volume enterprise J2EE and BPM applications
• Proven skills as a technical expert and team leader in an IT development environment
• Experience in UNIX and/or LINUX environments including infrastructure setup and tool installations
• Knowledge of performance testing and load testing result analysis/troubleshooting
• Excellent understanding of key architecture considerations/issues associated with distributed multi-tier infrastructure such as: OO design, design patterns, and SOA
• Ability to work in an extremely ambiguous and ever changing client environment (both technical and business) using agile development methodologies.
• Ability to multitask, work within a dynamic, fast paced environment and ability to meet deadlines required
• Strong communication (oral and written) and time management skills
• A creative problem solver that works well under pressure
• Proven leadership of development teams
• Good understanding of Database design, and various vertical and horizontal scaling of Java solutions.
• Exceptional Soft Skills
• Experience leading offshore resources an asset.
• Telecommunications industry experience would be a great asset
The Technical Team Lead may be required to work overtime and complete on-call duty and occasional traveling when necessary.
Must Have Technical Skills:
1. J2EE/Java Development
2. BPM related design/implementation experience (jBPM, BPEL, BPMN on any BPM platform such as JBOSS, Oracle SOA, IBM BPM)
3. Experience working with Middle Tier Server (WebLogic, Websphere, JBOSS)
4. XML, including XSLT, XML Schema
5. ORACLE PL/SQL knowledge7. Web Services Development
8. Highly proficient working in the UNIX, LINUX
Required Work Experience:
1. Minimum of 3-5 years of general IT experience
2. Minimum of 1-2 years experience as a Technical Team Lead
Required Level of Education (include certifications):
